Riverside College Students Shine at WorldSkills UK Finals with Gold and Bronze Medals

Riverside College recently achieved tremendous success at the WorldSkills UK finals, with four students bringing home medals in their respective categories. Jade Oakes won the Gold Medal in Painting and Decorating, Emma Dunne won the Beauty Therapist Bronze Medal, and Andrew Plumpton and Georgia McIntyre also won Bronze Medals in the Accountancy Technician category.
Jade Oakes, a Painting and Decorating apprentice who works at Sodecor Decorators, competed against other skilled students from across the UK in a challenging competition that assessed technical ability, speed, and creativity. Despite the tough competition, Jade emerged victorious, showcasing her outstanding skills and expertise in the field.
More success came for Level 3 Beauty student Emma Dunne who competed in the Beauty Therapist category. Emma demonstrated her ability to provide a range of treatments, including facials, makeup, and manicures. Her exceptional performance in the competition earned her the Bronze Medal, proving her talent and dedication to her craft.
AAT Accounting Apprentices Andrew Plumpton and Georgia McIntyre excelled in the Accountancy Technician category, impressing the judges with their expertise and professionalism. They completed a series of challenging tasks based around a business case study, all while working against the clock. Their hard work resulted in bronze medals.
Praise was given to students Lucy McNamee and Elle Goodman who competed in the Commercial Make-Up category. Both students were highly commended for their efforts in the competition.
The WorldSkills UK finals are renowned for their rigorous selection process and high standards, making these achievements all the more impressive for the students.
